Iowa Wild Website
The goal of this project was to take an existing website and redesign it based on UX/UI design principles we were taught during the class. I chose to work with Iowa Wild’s website because their sitemap was so extensive and the design was not representative of their team and sport, in my opinion. This redesign was done in 2023 for a Senior UX/UI design course prior to their current website redesign they went forward with in the Spring of 2024.
Website Choice & Research
I chose to work on Iowa Wild’s website because I thought that their website lacked a cohesiveness with the brand and the sport, so I wanted to portray a more intense and clean design.
During this project I focused on trying to emulate the intensity that is often conveyed in F1 team’s websites so I looked at websites like McLaren Racing and Ferrari Racing. So that I was also able to best portray a hockey aesthetic, I looked at websites like University of Michigan Wolverine’s hockey. All of these websites displayed a cohesive, clean design with the Ferrari website leaning into a dark aesthetic I wanted to achieve in my redesign.

Feedback
Limit use of stars (too much like Dallas Stars)
Too much green, use some red & yellow
Add Black to add depth & meaning
Incorporate more circles to differentiate further
Push the design & graphics — be wild, gradients & overlays, push to give energy
Experiment with green as a background color
Make forms boxes consistent
Give more space next to buttons & text
Add bullets in “About” section
Check readability with images & textures
